The current mainstay litter / stretcher rescue basket system is a variation of a 1940's design that has served the community well but is no longer capable of meeting the complexities of modern warfare or challenges of urban civil rescues. Certainly it is a very viable tool for most jobs but the time has come for modern technology to replace it.

Using experts from motorsports and aviation hC8 has employed CASE, CAD-CAM and CFD to create a Modular Rescue Litter System that was inspired by the best materials and manufacturing techniques found in F1.

Inspiration can be found everywhere; "when I acquired my champcar 3 years ago the tub and other intricate composite work got me thinking about how to finally build the modular rescue litter system I envisioned 10 years earlier. I could now see that indeed the design specs could be met with modern composites. All I needed to do was find the right experts to bring it all together. I found them in odd places like a CFD (computational fluid dynamists) guy with F1 aspirations, a pro surfer turned manufacturing innovator, racecar builders with rapid prototype capabilities and suppliers within extreme sports industry that can supply the required materials."
