hC8 :|: modular rescue litter system [MRLS]

>> under construction >> the RESCUErEVOLUTION will not be televised.

UNDER CONSTRUCTION :: info for NAV test ONLY :: Late April 2010

SPAWN :: the origins of hC8 MRLS and Mission Modules goes back to the end of the cold war. By that time the inventor had years of heliborne rescues, MED+CASevac and hostage extraction experience under his belt. As is usually the case with rescue work, there are the dull hours of sitting around followed by those intense moments. While many hit the gym during downtime the MRLS inventor hit the grid paper.

Many design ideas were logged for research and future discussion with fellow operators. As the years progressed technology evolved and so did the inventor’s knowledge. His work with advanced microelectronic epoxy (amepox) resin formulator, their JV with thermoset plastics manufacturer and various motorsports and aerospace projects formed the core knowledge that would go into hC8’s product development process.

Development of the Modular Rescue Litter System [mrls]

The development was paused as the inventor transferred from Army Aviation to Air Force Combat Rescue where post 9/11 operational tempo kept him from working on the MRLS project.

A decade later technologies and materials had evolved; yet the rescue basket of choice had remained a version of the Stokes Litter. It was time to think retirement and finish product development. CAD/CAM, CASE and CFD experts assisted with the rapid prototyping and evolution of the basic MRLS and Mission Module designs.

The result is the hC8 MRLS. The core modular rescue litter system has integrated buoyancy, flack and ballistic protection, hoist and drag capable, has integrated covert and overt LEDs to eliminate the need for chemlights.

During FY10 Q3 the design is being tested to ensure compliance with US military requirements. hC8’s design goal is a stretcher basket that weighs half has much as the current market leader and is twice as strong. We feel that if we come close to the design goal the additional basic features (without addition of mission modules) will evolve rescue capabilities to a modern standard.

HISTORY :: Stokes Litter Rescue Basket Liptay designed the first modern rescue litter in 1940 and all future models were based on his design. (all except SKED which made a caveman design from a modern plastic). In the days of old all you needed was a pipe bender and a welder to become a manufacturer of rescue equipment. Sure the target market is small and perhaps to a sophisticated business executive there is no ROI for R+D, but at hC8 .....

NEWS :: from the AOR [ OIF / OEF / OND ] rescue news from the field; the who, what and where of real applications involving the rescue litter and other rescue equipment targeted for hC8 evolution. These are your stories; from our BLOG, your tweets or facebook, from the news wire and from emails out of the AOR. We will make consider OPSEC as we relay these stories but we do hope the rescue community learns how current products limit us.......

NEWS :: from hC8 deployment + development there are only so many hours in the day to build the cool stuff that can make rescuing people faster, easier and safer. We will keep you abreast of our latest products and the evolution of rescue equipment targeted for hC8 evolution. Our initial news will focus on the testing and fielding of the initial modular rescue litter systems and the testing of the first series of many mission modules in the development pipeline .......

TECHNOLOGY :: what went into your litter make due with less; "it's what you've got to work with so adapt and overcome, there are lives to be saved and budgets are tight". A common story we've heard all our lives in rescue. We are the insurance policy and no one wants to pay the premium. This is one of the reasons you are still working with a litter designed before WW2. Stainless or Ti doesn't change the fact your litter is based on the 1940 Liptay design........

TECHNOLOGY :: what goes into hC8 products decades of working in the rescue community has led us to one common thought "it sucks to work with old outdated junky cumbersome equipment" that hC8 hopes to eliminate. Our corporate goal is to evolve rescue capabilities. We're just humble guys that have made saving lives a life long career and now that it's time to retire we want to keep serving the community. We've adapted CASE, CAD/CAM and CFD to evolve ......
