Development of the Modular Rescue Litter System [mrls]
The development was paused as the inventor transferred from Army Aviation to Air Force Combat Rescue where post 9/11 operational tempo kept him from working on the MRLS project.
A decade later technologies and materials had evolved; yet the rescue basket of choice had remained a version of the Stokes Litter. It was time to think retirement and finish product development. CAD/CAM, CASE and CFD experts assisted with the rapid prototyping and evolution of the basic MRLS and Mission Module designs.
The result is the hC8 MRLS. The core modular rescue litter system has integrated buoyancy, flack and ballistic protection, hoist and drag capable, has integrated covert and overt LEDs to eliminate the need for chemlights.
During FY10 Q3 the design is being tested to ensure compliance with US military requirements. hC8’s design goal is a stretcher basket that weighs half has much as the current market leader and is twice as strong. We feel that if we come close to the design goal the additional basic features (without addition of mission modules) will evolve rescue capabilities to a modern standard.
